Global Women's Rights Award

The Feminist Majority Foundation honored the One Million Signatures Campaign as a recipient of the 2009 Eleanor Roosevelt Global Women's Rights Award. This award was presented to the Campaign,"in special recognition of their groundbreaking work to demand an end to discriminatory laws in Iran against women."

Raw in War Anna Politkovskaya Award

The winner of RAW in WAR’s third annual Anna Politkovskaya Award 2009 is the One Million Signatures Campaign for Equality (Iran). The Campaign was honored for aiming to change Iranian society in October 2009.

2009 German Quadriga Award

Quadriga is an annual German award sponsored by Werkstatt Deutschland , a non-profit organization based in Berlin. The award recognizes four people or groups for their commitment to innovation, renewal, and a pioneering spirit through political, economic, and cultural activities.  The Iranian Women’s Activists were honored for their peaceful and innovative of approach to empowering women.

Women of the Year Glamour 2009 Award

Launched in 2007, the Glamour Women of the Year Fund initiative raises money for charities that support the inspiring causes of brave women. This year, Glamour is working with the Jenzabar Foundation to launch a scholarship program to help Iranian women attend universities in the U.S. (Because The One Million Signature Campaign cannot accept donations, this program is not affiliated with them.)

Individual Achievements

2008 Olaf Palme Prize

Journalist and activist Parvin Ardalan should have been in Stockholm on March 6, 2008. She was to receive the 2007 Olof Palme Prize in recognition of her leading role in the One Million Signatures campaign for women's equality in Iran. However, on March 3, airport security officials removed her from a flight about to take off from Tehran's international airport, seized her passport, and served her with a summons to appear in court.

2008 International Human Rights Prize

Nasrin Sotoodeh was selected as the recipient of the International Human Rights Prize, awarded by the Organization Human Rights International. While she was prevented from travel her husband and daughter attended the ceremony and accepted the award on her behalf on the December 6, 2008 in the city of Merano in Italy.

2009 Lech Walesa Prize

UNRISD researcher Shadi Sadr received the Lech Walesa Prize on Monday September 18th, 2009 for her work in promoting human rights, freedom of expression and democracy in Iran.

2009 Courage in Journalism Award

Editor in chief of Kanoon Zanan Irani, Jila Bani Yaghoub won the 2009 IWMF Courage in Journalism Award for fearlessly reporting on government and social oppression, particularly as they affect women.

2009 Human Rights Defenders Tulip Award

The Human Rights Defenders Tulip award for 2009 was presented to the Iranian human rights lawyer Shadi Sadr at the Knight’s Hall in The Hague on November 9th, 2009. She received the human rights award from the Dutch government for the moral courage and perseverance she has shown in protecting and promoting the rights of her fellow citizens in Iran.
